AFS description: 'Herps Vlampijp’– No 8949 (Waldenmaier) Single. Upright/Trailer. COROLLA: half flare; round shape, smooth petal margins; opens dark purple red (46A); matures red (46B); 8mm (5/16") long x 7mm (1/4") wide. SEPALS are half down, tips reflexed; dark purple red (46A) upper & lower surfaces; 10mm (3/8") long x 6mm (1/4”) wide. TUBE is dark purple red (46A); medium length & thickness; 18mm (11/16") long x 4mm (3/16") wide. STAMENS: extend 2mm (1/16”) beyond the corolla; dark purple red (46A) filaments; white (155B) anthers; PISTIL extends 7mm (1/4”) beyond the corolla; dark purple red (46A) style; purple red (58C) stigma. BUD is oblong. FOLIAGE: dark green (136B) upper surface; brown green (138B) lower surface. Leaf dimensions: 60mm (2 3/4”) long x 30mm (1 3/16”) wide. Veins, stems & branches are red (50A). Leaves are elliptic shaped, serrulate edges, acute tips & acute bases. PARENTAGE: [(F. paniculata 44x x F. excorticata 44x) x (F. splendens 44x x F. fulgens gesneriana 44x)] x F. triphylla PB#6. GROWTH: lax upright or stiff trailer; makes good basket, upright or miniature. Prefers overhead filtered light. Best bloom color in bright light. Tested for 4 years in the vicinity of Herpen, The Netherlands. Fuchsia Nieuwigheden certificering. Distinguished by bloom shape & color.
